| HOW
TO MAKE CHANGE SUCCESSFUL?
Whether
we like it or not change is a part of
our everyday lives. Our success in dealing with the change
effectively will determine both in the short and longer
term whether we are remain competitive and survive.
In
our experience organisations that understand the implications
of change and have managed to bring their people with
them throughout that change - implement that change more
successfully.
Methodology
We
believe there are three distinct types of change:

Step change
Stabilising the process
Incremental improvement
How
often do you hear the phrase “we are just bedding
the new change in or we're on a learning curve."
Conventional wisdom says the immediate effect of a change
is normally a downturn in performance, reduction in service
or a drop off in yield.
How
do you ensure you prevent that from happening?
Over
the last 20 years, we have developed a methodology of
initiating change whether step, stabilising or incremental
which as well as implementing the necessary actions, also
takes account of all other relevant factors that unless
addressed diminish the impact of the result.
From
experience, one of the hardest parts of any change is
to deal with the people aspects, their skills, behaviour
and motivations - as it is they through their actions
that we can succeed or have our plans blown off track
or stopped all together.
Approach
A
typical approach we have used covers the following areas:
Stage
1 - Understand the nature of the change
- determine the parameters involved
- ascertain the relevant facts
Stage 2 - Agree the course of action & communicate
Stage 3 - Implement and measure the effect
In
business today, gaining competitive advantage requires
all three types of change to be implemented successfully.
Time and again history shows that when companies have
recognised the need for and undergone change successfully
they are the ones to prosper and survive - the UK and
Europe is littered with companies who haven’t!
